Gun men attacked police station in Bayelsa State

Unknown gun men attacked Kolo police station in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State and a policeman was confirmed dead and at least three injured.

The incident happened a week after four soldiers were killed in an ambush at Letugbene community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa.

According an eye witness who spoke to Channels TV, he said the attack was carried out by some suspected oil thieves.

TheCable reports that Spokesman of the state police command, Asinim Butswat had initially said he was not aware of the incident.

He said “I am not aware of the incident that you are talking about. Let me check and get back to you.”

But it was later reported that the spokesman of the police command had confirmed the attacked and that policeman lost his life during the attack.

There have been threat in the Niger Delta by some Niger Delta Militants to destroy oils pipelines if the Federal Government fails to make the Niger Delta region a better place.

The Niger Delta region are the oil producing states but they are like the minority and according to their freedom fighters, the Government are not doing enough for the Niger Delta Region.
