WOW! President Mugabe appoints minister for ‘Whatsapp and Facebook’ in Zimbabwe

President of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe has appoints minister of Whatsapp and Facebook in the country and that all Whatsapp groups must register with the ministry.

The president said he had set up a new ministry responsible for Cyber Security, Threat Detection and Mitigation in Zimbabwe.

Zimbabweans have poked fun at the new ministry of cyber security in their country.

Zimbabweans have a sense of humour if a spoof government notice that has hit social media is anything to by.

In the fake notice that was to take effect as from the November 1st, WhatsApp administrators in Zimbabwe would have had to register their groups with ministry responsible for Cyber Security Threat Detection and Mitigation.
The letter bearing a fake signature and letterhead purporting to be that of newly appointed Zimbabwe cyber minister, Patrick Chinamasa, stated that members who would not have had their groups registered would be committing a criminal offence.
The WhatsApp group administrators were also expected to have a minimum of Level 1 certification from the ministry.
